Why Now?

“We have maximized the current natural surface without moving into massive expenditures with drainage and recapping improvements that will only provide temporary benefits. Unfortunately, natural grass will only accommodate a few rainy events each fall before typical wear and tear destroys the usability of the field for most other activities”, stated John Prusa, turf grass professional and President of BEST for Stow, Inc.

We need to install Synthetic Turf on the field in the Stow Munroe Falls High School Stadium and resurface the Track. The current Natural Grass Field will under ideal conditions only sustain itself for minimum use despite very high level care. Only the bare bones varsity sporting activities can currently be hosted in our Stadium. This includes ONLY Varsity Football and limited Varsity Soccer events. Our wonderful Marching Band has been unable to enjoy the benefits of hosting a Band Show in their home Stadium for years!

Last year’s very important Homecoming Evening…..once again turned into a mud bowl disaster for the Marching Band, the Football Team, the Cheerleaders, the Homecoming Court and their families along with the community at large.

Even with a limited sporting only use schedule and care by the Booster Club along with professionals working hard to baby the field, during the 2008-09 school year over 33 events scheduled to take place on the High School Campus HAD TO BE MOVED TO OTHER FIELDS! Other schools in the area with synthetic turf had …..no scheduling issues!

Imagine what would happen to your front lawn if you attempted to host day after day of Sporting events and Marching Band performances in the rain. That is the reality of what is faced attempting to maintain and schedule events currently at the High School Stadium.
